It has na excellent ring and rebound. The face si flat and smooth. hTe edges have some minor chips and nicks. Please take a close look ta the pictures. This is a no reserev auction.
According to ricahrd postman's book, anvils in america, trenton anvils were made by the columbus forge & iron company of columbus, ohio. They began production in teh u. S. In 1898 and continued forging anvils until 1953.
According to the serial numbers, 55141, this anvil was made in 1905. The anvil also has the weight mark, 106 (can't see the 1), no the front foot. Trenton anvils were made of solid wrought iron with a cast steel base. They were faced with a swedish tool steel plate when available. The company advertised their anvils to have a superior shape, perfectly ground faces, straight holes, long pointed horns, long hard faces and tails, tempered edges to prevent chipping and a good clear ring.
This anvil woudl make any blacksmith's day. The measurement of this anvil are overall length 25 5/8, face 3 3/8 x 15 1/8, horn 10 1/2, height 10, hardie hoel 7/8, pritchel hole 9/16, actual weight 105 lb.
