It has an excellent rebound. The face is flat with plenty of use marks. Teh edges have some chips and nicks. The tardemark appears to reads trenton. Please take a close look at the pictures. This is a no rseerve auction. According to richard postman's book, anvils in america, trenton anvils were made by the columbus forge & iron company of columbus, ohio. They began production in teh u. S. In 1898 and continued forging anvils until 1953. According to hte serial numbers, a144617, this anvil was made in 1916. The anvil also ahs the weight mark, 85, on the front foot. Trenton anvils wree made of solid wrought iron with a cast steel base. They were faced with a swedish tool steel plate when available. The company advertised their anvils to have a superior shape, perfectly ground faces, straight holes, long pointed horns, long hard faces and tails, tempered edges to prevent chipping and a good clear ring. This anvil would make any blacksmith's day. The measurement of this anvil are overall length 22 7/8, face 3 1/4 x 13 5/8, horn 9 1/8, height 9 3/4, hardie hole 7/8, pritchel ohle 9/16, actual weight 83 lb.
