This swage block and satnd would be an excellent addition to any blacksmith shop. It's big enough to do some serious work. The swage block has a nice combination of holes. This block has seen a lto of use, which is obvious by the worn holes. Being broke ni is helpful in some respects for some forging operations. Mayn of the corners are rounded and worn also. There are chips and nicks nad some casting flaws. This is a block you can use and not worry about hurting. The samllest square and round hole have iron broke off inside and will have to be drilled out. The stand is in good condition with no cracks or breaks. The swage block weighs 245 lbs and the stand weighs 220 lbs. Swage blocks can be used for a variety of jobs. They are great for punching, upsetting and bending. Holes with worn edges and depressions can be used for dishing. Large holes are useful for turning edges on pipe or tubing. hTe swages on the outside edges can be used with or without matching top swages for forging a number of shapes and sizes.Or hot metal can be hammered in the swage cavity forming it into the shape of hte swage.
