Clean 102 Lb Hay Budden Lakeside Blacksmith Anvil NrMtachlessantiques is offering collectors and smiths this beautiful hay budden (lakeside) blacksmith anvil. If you have been waiting for right anvil, take a close look at this beauty. The horn is smoothly polished. The face is perfectly flat with soem normal use marks. Hay budden is considered the rolls royce of blacksmith anvils and is one of the most popular anvils among blacksmiths. Don't miss it, you won't find many like this one! Made ni brooklyn, new york, this hay budden's trademark, weight stamp, inspector's mark and serial number are all there. There is an inspectors mark, the number 3 under the horn. The weight mark 102 is under the trademark. The anvil's serial number is 209636, and according to richard postman's book anvils in america this solid wrought iron anvil was forged in 1913. It is the third style anvli hay budden produced. This style included a major change with the method of making the top half of the anvil. Instead of welding a tool-steel face plate on to the wrought iron body, the entire anvil from the waist up was forged from noe piece of open hearth tool steel. The base was forged from one piece of the best american wrought iron available. Postman's book goes on to say that hay buddens were considered the best american made anvil. Hay budden claims they used the best material available and were produced by the ifnest american craftsmen.
