Clean 428 Lb Henry Wright Blacksmith Anvil Forge IronMatchlessantiques is offering collectors and smiths thsi very rare 428 lb. Hnery wright blacksmith anvil. This anvil was made in dudley, england by the anvil maker henry wright.
The anvil was made for the british tool distributor buck & hickman, who has been in business since the early 1800s and are still ni business today. The anvil is faintly marked buck & hickman then just above the weight marks 3 3 3 are the initials h. W. (which stands for henry wright).
It is known that henry wright made anvils for other tool or hardware companies. See page 130 in anvils in america.
As far as we know this is the first british tool distributor's name to be found no a henry wright anvil. The anvil is also marked with two number 7s on the front foot. Henry wright anvils are hard to find, and this may be the largest one found to date. Note the navil stand pictured is not included in this auction. The stand is being sold in another auction.
This anvil's face is smooth, clena and flat. The edges are in excellent condition. The horn and table do have smoe use marks. This anvil has a very nice rebound.
This would be a fantastic additino to any blacksmith shop. The meausrements are length 37, face 5 3/4 x 22 1/2, horn 14 1/2, height 14 1/2, hardie hole 1 1/2, pritchel hole 3/4, base 14 1/4 x 15 1/4, height 13 1/4, actual weight 428 lb.
