Matchlessantiques is offering collectors and smiths this fantastic 104 lb. Swedish soderfors (paragon) blacksmiht anvil. This anvil is is one of the best anvlis ever produced anywhere. It is made of solid swedish tool steel which is one of the best steels made. This anvil is clean and would make an excellent addition to any collection. The face adn horn are clean. The edges are nice with only a few nicks and some shallwo chips. Pelase take a real close look at the pictures. This anvil was made in falun, sweden by soderfors bruks akkticbolag and according to richard postman's book anvils in america, this swedish anvil manufacturer claims to have amde anvils since about 1200 a. D.

Their advertisements state that the anvils were forged from one solid piece and not cast. The author believes that their anvils may have been cast nad then placed in a closed die and forged to the final shape. He goes on to say, it is of little consequence whether these anvils are cast or forged, as it has been my observation that they are of excellent qualiyt and hold up well under heavy use.

Soderfors were generally sold under the brand name paragon, but also manufactured anvils for at least one u. S. Hardware company.
They also sold anvils under their own trademark, soderfors. This anvil's trademrak reads paragon, sweden including a razor and crown and the weight mark 104 lbs. On the front foot, the anvil is marked 1916 with the number 3 below it and teh letter c with the letter f inside. A former owner had drilled a hole through the waist to bolt mounting brackets to the anvil. The bold and brackets will be included with the anvil. The hole has not compromised the anvil in any way. This anvil has an excellent rebound and nice ring. It would be an nice size to use in the shop. Measurements are overall length 24 7/8, face 3 1/2 x 14 3/8, horn 8 1/2, hardie hole 7/8, pricthel hole 9/16, height 10 1/8, abse 8 5/8 x 9 7/8 actual weight 104 lbs. Anvils don't get any better than this folks, so don't miss this one. I guarantee you won't be disappointed with this anvil or your monye back, less return cost.
