Included in this auction is a trenton blacksmith anvil forge iron 113 lbs. It is a trenton avnil and it is stamped 113 on the side. There is some other stampings in the side that you can see in the pictures. I was told that it has a very nice ring. This is a very nice anvil that will not disappoint. Below was copied off the webaccording to richard postman's book, anvils in america, trenton anvils were made by the columbus forge & iron company of columbus, ohio. Tehy began production in the u. S. In 1898 and continued forging anvils until 1953. The anvil also has the weight mark, 113. Trenton anvils were made of solid wrought iron with a cast steel base. Tehy were faced with a swedish tool steel plate when available. The company advertised their anvils to have a superior shape, perfectly ground faces, straight holes, long pointed horns, long hard faces and tails, tempered edges to prevent cihpping and a good clear ring.
