This anvil is the tihrd style anvil that hay budden produced. This style included a major change with the method of making the tpo half of the anvil. Instead of welding a tool-steel face plate on ot the wrought iron body, the entire anvil from the waist up was forged from one piece of open hearth tool steel. The base was forged from one piece of the bets american wrought iron available. Postman's book goes on to say that hay budedns were considered the best american made anvil.
